What a week!

Hello everybody!

We had a pretty eventful week here in Connell and Basin City.

We have had lots of lessons, a car wreck and then to end the week we had a baptism.

So the car wreck wasn't our fault. We were in a parking lot and came to a T, we looked both ways and then started to go. A lady with her truck pulled into the parking and was on the right side of the road. As we started to turn, she cut onto our side and hit us. Since it was on private property, the police couldnt do anything about it. I didn't get good pictures of it on my camera but my companion got some that really proved it was her fault.

Yesterday we had a baptism in Basin City. It was awesome to be able to see someone change their life and become baptized. It has been so much fun to work with that family and it will be amazing to go to the temple with them in a year.

Hope you all have a great week!

Another Great Week in the WKM

Thank you to all that wrote me this week. It was nice to hear how things are going back home.

This week was really good. We taught a bunch of lessons and found a few new investigators. The next couple of weekends we have baptisms planned of some really awesome investigators. The work is going forward and its exciting to see the changes is brings in peoples lives.

My language abilities got a nice test yesterday in the spanish branch. My companion and I were asked to speak about how to share the gospel. Of course I was shaking while I was reading but it was still understandable. I'm hoping it will be another little while before I have to speak in sacrament meeting again but its a small branch and the rotation is rather short because of it. Its getting easier to understand and to speak but I still make lots of mistakes.

So funny story for this week. We went over to a non-member lady's house to do some service. My companion and I think she is a bit of a hoarder and this is why; we were cleaning up her garage because she is older and isnt very strong. She has a 3 port garage and 2 of the ports are taken by cars. The last one was stacked floor to ceiling of furniture and boxes of random STUFF. Towards the end (6 hours later) we were putting some of the stuff back so she could pull her cars back in and there were a couple of EMPTY boxes that could be thrown away but she said "thats a good box, i want to keep it." She is a really nice lady and she is lonely but it was kind of ridiculous. Hopefully she will be more willing to listen to the message of the gospel because of the service.

Hope you all have a great week and remember that when life knocks you down, don't let it win. Get up and keep going. You are sons and daughters of God and you potential is more than you know.

Slow but good week

Hello everybody!

Thank you to all those that sent me a letter this week. It was really good to know how everybody is doing. It sounds like it was a really good week.

Elder Webb and I had a bit of a slow week because most of our investigators are back working the fields and they work super long/strange hours so it is really hard to get a hold of them. We are still working hard though and were able to find one super awesome investigator. We met with him 4 times this week and he has already read through the beginning of 2nd Nephi. Elder and I were floored when he told us where he was because we weren't expecting him to read so much. What is even more awesome is that he said he gets a calming feeling as he reads it. He is an awesome guy and we are super excited for him as he continues to progress in the gospel.

Yesterday as we were driving to basin city we saw a huge fire just a little ways off of the road so we went and took a couple pictures. There were whole trees in there from what we could see. it was pretty cool.

My camera has a cool panoramic feature and this is one of them.

This is how flat most of the is area is but it is perfect for farmland. This is a field of alfalfa.

Hope you all enjoy your week

General Conference!! + a Great week

Hello everybody!

This week was a pretty good week especially since it ended with conference! I loved hearing the prophet and the other general authorities speak. They such powerful testimonies and its just a strong motivator to be the best person I can be. One of my favorite quotes from Elder Hollands talk was "Fan the flame of your faith." Sometimes the world will try to smother your flame but you can't let it because without your faith what do you have?

My language is coming along. Sometimes its hard for me to express my thoughts but it is getting easier to understand others.

This week is transfers and we got transfer calls last night but my companion and I are still in the Connell/Basin City area. We are happy to be staying here because the mission is about to split in July and wherever you are is where you stay and neither of us want to go to Vancouver because there isn't as much spanish there. Its crazy that 6 weeks have gone by already! It seems just like yesterday that I was walking off the plane in a strange land. I love serving here and the people are amazing.

Hope you all enjoyed conference and have a great week!

Super good Week

Hi everybody!

I don't have a whole lot of time today but I just wanted to write a quick note about this past week.

This week was awesome! We found 11 new investigators which is really good for this area and since all the Hispanics are working all the time. Also we taught a ton of lessons. And to top off the week we had a baptism on saturday! It was a bit stressful because he showed up near the time that was supposed to start but it was understandable. He works with lambs and its the time of the year that they have their babies. I was fortunate enough to be the one to baptize him. It was a really neat experience to be able to baptize someone I taught and to have seen his growth.

Its really funny sometimes when Mexicans try to pronounce my name (ones that dont speak english) because I guess they dont have that kind of "y" sound so I just tell them to call me Elder Joven because it means the same thing in spanish. That was one of the funny experiences I had this week.

I love this area! And I love being a missionary! Its an amazing experience to be able to watch people be blessed by the gospel. An amazing scripture is 2 Ne 31. Its all about the doctrine of christ. Hope you enjoy it.

Thanks for the letters this week. Hope you all have a great week!
